Asset+ are delighted to have commenced on a decarbonisation programme for 146 London schools across multiple London Boroughs including community, faith, academy schools and 6th forms/colleges with the works being funded through various sources including the BEIS’ Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. The programme will deliver:
- 27 GWh of annual Gas Savings
- 16 MW of Renewable Heat Generation through Heat Pumps
- 5 GWh of annual electricity savings through upgrades to LED Lighting
- 3.5 MW of Renewable Electricity Generation through Solar PV
- 1 MW of Battery Storage
- Controls upgrades and optimisation
- Insulation and fabric measures
The decarbonisation programme will remove in excess of 7,000 tonnes of annual CO2 from the built environment across London, provide significant financial savings to each school and also enable an ongoing legacy scheme to aid learning on sustainable development for future generations. The programme is creating new local employment into the energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation sector whilst creating lasting skills and careers to meet London’s objectives of a Net Zero Carbon City by 2030.
“This decarbonisation project is making a significant impact to the education sector within London and will impact the communities that surround them in a positive way over many years. We are proud of our leading role in this scheme and it’s been fantastic to see the programme being embraced through the engagement period by so many from Headteachers to Caretakers to the students and their parents. This forward thinking programme continues to reinforce our position as the UK’s leading independent energy performance specialist.”
